Woman cuts off man’s genitals during rape attempt

A woman severed a part of a man's genitals during a rape attempt in Netrakona's Purbadhala upazila today.

The injured accused is Parvez Mia, 25.

The victim is a degree college student of the upazila.

According to the victim, who locals detained briefly, she was in a relationship with Zahid Mia. Around 3:45pm today, she went to meet Zahid near a beel.

Zahid allegedly called Parvez to the location. Later, both of them took her to an abandoned house in a garden of the beel and tried to rape her, she said.

In self-defence, the victim said she took out a blade from her bag and struck Parvez's genital with it.

Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the scene and took Parvez to a local health complex.

Although some locals initially held the young woman, she was later released.

Mohammad Sohel Rana, resident medical officer of the health complex, said, "About half of Parvez's genitalia has been severed. He has been referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment."

Officer-in-Charge of Purbadhala Police Station Md Nurul Alam said he had heard about the incident but did not receive any formal complaint till the filing of the report around 10:30pm.
