Half-day shutdown in Sirajganj for Sunday

The BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance have called an eight-hour shutdown (hartal) in the district for Sunday.

The district unit BNP along with its allies will enforce the hartal from 6:00am protesting the killing of two BNP men during clash between opposition activists and the law enforcers in Belkuchi upazila of the district on Friday.

The opposition alliance is scheduled to hold a rally in the district town Saturday afternoon protesting the killing, advocate Mokaddes Ali, general secretary of the district unit BNP, told The Daily Star.

Earlier on Friday, a fierce clash erupted after Belkuchi police arrested Jamaat leader Habibur Rahman at Modhupur village around 9:00am in connection with torching the Belkuchi Upazila Awami League office on March 3.
