Grenade found in city park

Police yesterday recovered an abandoned grenade from Osmani Udyan in the capital's Shahbagh area.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanwar Hossain of the Detective Branch of Police told The Daily Star that on information police had recovered the grenade around 5:00pm. It was left under a banyan tree near the Rail Bhaban.
Personnel from the bomb disposal unit defused it on the spot.
Sanwar said, “The grenade would be examined to find out where it was produced and its kind. Preliminary assessment tells it was a factory-made grenade but was not very powerful."
He said they were trying to find out who had left it there.
