Govt programmes tocelebrate Eid
An elaborate programme was chalked out yesterday at inter-ministerial meeting to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha in a befitting manner. The meeting held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs was presided over by State Minister for Religious Affairs Mosharref Hossain Shajahan.
The meeting decided that the president and the prime minister will give separate messages on the occasion.
The main Eid congregation will be held at National Eidgah Maidan at 8 am, but in case of inclement weather it will be shifted to Baitul Mokarram National Mosque.
National flag will be hoisted atop all government and public buildings and the main roads and road islands will be decorated with the national flag and banners inscribe with "Eid-Mubarak" in Bangla and Arabic.
On the night of holy Eid-ul-Azha, Bangabhaban, Sangsad Bhaban, Pradhanmantri Bhaban, Prime Minister's office and some other public buildings will be illuminated.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will air special programmes while national dailies will publish special supplements.
Improved diet will be served to the inmates of hospitals, jails, government orphanages and vagabond and poor welfare centres.
The meeting stressed the need for taking measures to keep the roads of the Dhaka city and elsewhere in the country clean after the Eid.
Bangladesh Missions abroad will also undertake necessary programmes to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in light of the government programmes. The diplomats of the Muslim countries will be invited to take part in the main Eid congregation.
The State Minister for Religious Affairs called upon all concerned to take necessary measures to celebrate the festival with religious fervour and much enthusiasm.
