Freedom fighter Belal Mohammad passes away
Belal Mohammad, a freedom fighter and an organiser of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, died at Apollo Hospital in the capital early Tuesday at the age of 77.
The eminent personality, who had been suffering from old age complications, was rushed to the hospital after his condition deteriorated on Monday.
He received Shadhinota Padak-2010 for his outstanding contribution to the Liberation War.
The first namaz-e-janaza of Belal was held at Baitul Aman Jam-e-Mosque at Uttara sector No. 14 in the morning, private television channel ATN Bangla reports.
His body will be kept at the mortuary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) until Wednesday morning.
Around 11:00am Wednesday, the body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar so that people from all walks of life can pay their tributes to him.
As per his wish, his body will be donated to the BSMMU on Wednesday after his second janaza at central mosque of Dhaka University.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock at the death of Belal.
