Four Jamaat-Shibir men held in Ctg
Police arrested four activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong early Friday.
Sitakunda police arrested Md Mohiuddin, 24 and Md Sohel, 20 during a drive in the upazila around 12:30am, said Satyaranjan Khaskel, sub-inspector of Sitakunda Police Station.
The duo was arrested in connection with torching a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and vandalising several other vehicles on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway Thursday night, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting the SI.
During the drive, the law enforcers also arrested Hazi Humayun Kabir, 55, his son Jewel Rana, 22, from their residence at East Amirabad union in connection with a vandalism case filed with the police station on July 20.
All the arrestees are the activists of Jamaat and Shibir of the upazila unit, the police official told The Daily Star.
The arrestees admitted their involvement in vandalism and arson attack during primary interrogation, he added.
