The fire that broke out at a market of electronics accessories on Elephant Road in the capital was brought under control nearly one-and-a-half-hour on Saturday.
No casualty was reported from the fire.
The reason of the fire that originated at Multiplan Centre, popularly known as computer market, around 10:30am could not be known immediately, said Farhaduzzaman, duty officer of Dhaka Fire Service and Civil Defence office.
Traffic movements on the busy city road remained suspended for nearly two hours following the fire.
The fire originated at the 4th floor of the multi-storey market and later spread to 5th floor, the duty officer added.
The extent of damage could not be ascertained immediately.
Ten units from different fire stations including Dhaka headquarters, Palashi and Lalbagh worked hart to douse the fire.
