"I had no business taking vows that would last more than two weeks"

Ethan Hawke, now 42, tells Elle Magazine that he wasn't ready for marriage when he said 'I do' to Uma Thurman back in 1998 when he was just 27. "Success when you're young is really overwhelming. The world felt out of control. And I wanted to stop it from spinning so fast. I thought marriage would decrease my variables or something. I was absolutely wrong... I had no business taking vows that would last more than two weeks," he explains. His marriage to Thurman lasted for five years before separating in 2003. Now he is married to Ryan Hawke with two daughters, Clementine and Indiana.
