Ershad asks MKA to resign
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad has asked Home Minister MK Alamgir to step down for his failure to arrest the culprits responsible for Savar tragedy even after 72 hours of the collapse.
He demanded that the government high command arrest the culprits within the next 40 hours and form a judicial committee to investigate the incident.
The former military dictator also lambasted the home minister for his comment that the nine-story Rana Plaza might had collapsed after opposition activists banged on a pillar and adjacent collapsible gate.
Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, political secretary to the JP chairman, told The Daily Star quoting from a statement sent by Ershad, who is now visiting Vietnam.
Ershad expressed his deep shock at the death of people in the tragedy. At least 304 people have been killed and over 2,000 injured in the collapse.
