Discussion on President's address in JS

Treasury bench members on the 8th day of general discussion on the President's address in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday congratulated President Shahabuddin Ahmed for upholding the development programmes of the government, reports BSS.

They said the government had set the country on the path of gradual development by undertaking and implementing scores of development programmes in all key sectors after coming to power in 1996.

In all four members including Minister for Science and Technology M Noor Uddin Khan took part in the discussion. Other three members were Begum Hosneara Wahed, A S M Firoj and Prof Mohammed Shahjahan.

Initiating the discussion, Noor Uddin Khan said the government had brought about a massive change in the field of science and technology with taking up Ruppur Nuclear Power Project, IT project, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Novo Theatre project, Hitech project, and many other programmes.

A S M Firoz bitterly criticised the opposition led by BNP saying that they are in fact forging a clique to seize power through unconstitutional way. But the people will foil their design unitedly, he said.

"The nation will never allow Razakar and autocrats to come to power any more," he said.
