Dhaka to get Swiss grant of $9.5m
Switzerland will give a grant of $ 9.5 million (Tk 75.75 crore) for the “Hygiene, Sanitation and Water Supply (HYSAWA) Programme” in Bangladesh.
To this effect, the governments of Switzerland and Bangladesh signed a “Financing Agreement” and “Project Documentation (ProDoc)” in the capital yesterday, said a press release.
Economic Relations Division Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad and Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Urs Herren signed the agreement on behalf of the respective governments.
Under the programme, 50,000 household latrines, 250 community/public latrines and more than 5,400 water points will be installed in 50 union parishads, the press release said.
Around one million people will be benefited from installations, it said.
