DCC fixes prices of red meat ahead of Ramadan
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) yesterday fixed the prices of red meat ahead of Ramadan.
The authorities fixed the price of per kg local beef at Tk 275, foreign beef at Tk 260, mutton (khashi) at Tk 450, mutton (bokri) at Tk 390, lamb at Tk 390 and buffalo meat at Tk 260.
The prices were decided at a views-exchange meeting between the authorities of the two city corporations and meat traders of the capital at Nagar Bhaban.
The new prices would be effective from the first of Ramadan till the 26th of the Muslim holy month of fasting.
Only the price of mutton (khashi) has been increased by Tk 25 from last year's Ramadan prices; the prices of the other types of meat remain the same.
The meat traders assured the authorities of following the price chart and demanded that they [authorities] improve the slaughter houses in the capital.
They also requested the authorities not to harass meat traders through mobile courts.
Rabiul Alam, secretary general of Bangladesh Meat Traders Association and Shamim Ahmed, general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Meat Traders Association, among others, addressed the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Mohammad Nozmul Islam, administrator of DSCC.
