Ctg port seizes illegally imported photocopiers

Customs officials on Sunday confiscated 86 old photocopiers from Chittagong Port.
“Import of old photocopier machines is illegal. They were imported under false declaration, as 95 units of brand new weighing machines,” Mahmudul Hasan, joint commissioner of Chittagong Customs House, told The Daily Star.
The market value of the seized items, which came from Singapore, was estimated at Tk 1.5 crore, he said.
The imports were by a firm named Yoshi Trading, with the address given as 1808, Sheikh Mujib Road, Saleh Mansion, Chittagong.
Shiny C&F Ltd on behalf of the importer submitted a bill of entry on June 16 for delivery of the container and paid Tk 1.15 lakh as duty on June 18.
