Court orders probe into Jamaat leaders' house torching
A Sylhet court has directed the officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station in Sylhet to take necessary steps to investigate three cases filed for attack, arson and looting of the houses of two Jamaat leaders and a businessman.
The court passed the order after taking cognisance of the cases filed with it yesterday.
According to the court sources, complainants of the cases mentioned that they were compelled to file the cases with the court as the airport police declined to record those after their houses were torched in Sylhet city's Pir Mohalla area on March 31.
Foyez Ahmed, father of Sylhet city unit Acting Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Sayef Ahmed, filed a case accusing 21 people, including Aftab, Sylhet district unit organising Secretary of Awami Swechchha Sebak League, by name; and 24 unnamed people, they said.
Mansur Ahmed, uncle of Sylhet city unit Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat Hafiz Abdul Hai Harun, filed another case for attacks on Harun's house against the same people, they added.
The other case was filed by Mujibur Rahman, owner of a private ambulance service, for the attack on his house same day, the court sources said.
