Class-III girl raped, killed
Stalkers raped and murdered a schoolgirl in Pakuria of Rajshahi city yesterday.
The body of the nine-year-old victim was recovered at the local graveyard around 10:00am, reports our Rajshahi correspondent quoting the OC of Shah Makhdum Police Station.
Police sent the body to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
A student of class three, she had been missing since 8:00pm on Friday when she left her grandmother's house in Pakuria for her aunt's a little way off.
Yesterday afternoon, police arrested Saidul Islam Jack, 28, at his house in Pakuria in connection with the murder.
The arrestee admitted to law enforcers that he along with his accomplice Rana, 28, strangulated the girl to death after violating her. Later, the duo dumped her body in the graveyard.
Family members of the victim said Jack is notorious for stalking girls in the area. They demanded exemplary punishment to the killers.
A case was filed with Shah Makhdum Police Station in this connection.
SCHOOLGIRL VIOLATED IN PABNA
A teenage girl was violated and her nude photographs and videos were spread out through mobile phones in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna, reports our Pabna correspondent.
A student of class seven, the 14-year-old schoolgirl of Bejpara village in the upazila had to stop going to school in the face of public disgrace.
Victim's family members complained that Sabuz Hossain, 22, son of Sultan Ahmed of the same village had violated her and shot nude photographs and videos of her when she went to his house to buy eggs two weeks ago.
Victim's brother told The Daily Star that they did not inform police about the incident for fear of social disgrace and tried to reach a settlement locally, but failed.
Md Aiyub Hossain, a local influential, said they had served notices on the families of the complainant and the accused, but the accused and his father did not turn up for arbitration on August 20. So the complainant has been asked to file a case.
Chatmohar police said no case was filed yet in connection with the alleged sexual abuse.
Despite repeated attempts, The Daily Star could not reach Sabuz over the phone for his comments on the allegations against him as his phone was switched off.
