Charge framing hearing deferred till July 21
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred until July 21 the hearing on charge framing against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her elder son Tarique Rahman, and four others in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The court passed the order after Khaleda's lawyer submitted a petition seeking an adjournment on the hearing.
The petition said Khaleda could not appear before it yesterday as the parliament session was going on. And according to the rules, Khaleda as a lawmaker cannot be even summoned for seven days before and after the session.
ZIA CHARITABLE TRUST GRAFT CASE
The same court yesterday deferred until July 21 the hearing on charge framing against Khaleda and three others in Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
Earlier on January 15, Khaleda appeared before it, and it took cognisance of the charges.
Two other accused -- Ziaul Islam Munna, assistant private secretary (APS) of another accused Harris Chowdhury; and Monirul Islam Khan, APS of former DCC mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka -- obtained ad-interim bail.
Harris, Khaleda's former political secretary, is absconding.
