Bomb attack on mayor's house

Criminals hurled bombs at the houses of Meherpur municipality Mayor Mothasim
Billah Motu and Meherpur district Chhatra League President Sofuan Ahmed Rupok early yesterday.
Azizul Haq, officer-in-charge of Meherpur Sadar Police Station, said criminals hurled a bomb on the mayor's house and two bombs on the BCL leader's house in the same area of the town at around 4:30am. Both houses were partially damaged by bomb attacks.
Mayor Mothasim Billa and BCL leader Rupok were asleep at their respective houses during the attacks. None was, however, injured.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered splinters of the bombs. Mofazzel Hossain, police superintendent of Meherpur, visited both houses in the morning. Police have been deployed at the two houses.
