BNP leader shot dead in capital
A local BNP leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Hazaribagh in the capital on Monday evening.
Police said Jasimuddin, 50, joint convenor of Ward-22 of the main opposition party, sustained bullet wounds in his chest, stomach and head.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of police camp at DMCH, told The Daily Star.
A relative of the deceased said two people riding a motorbike fired several shots targeting Jasimuddin in front of his house around 8:15pm.
Md Rony, brother-in-law of Jasimuddin, told The Daily Star that he along with locals and police chased the attackers but they managed to flee.
