BNP backs penalty proposal for JS badmouthing

Main opposition BNP supports a proposal to introduce fine for indecent remarks at the parliament, the party's Standing Committee member Moudud Ahmed said Tuesday.

“BNP has pleaded the Speaker to create an environment to make the parliament more effective,” Moudud said at a seminar organised by Free Thinkers Forum at the capital, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

However, despite a rule by the Speaker, the ruling party lawmakers have been making indecent comments targeted at us, he added.

“If they are allowed to do it, why shouldn’t we?” asked Moudud.

“Nonetheless, we support the idea of enforcing a fine of Tk 30,000 for indecent comments at the parliament,” Moudud said.
