Bharti buys out Airtel Bangladesh
Bharti Airtel on Thursday said it would acquire the remaining 30 percent stake of Warid in Airtel Bangladesh Limited.
Earlier in January 2010, Bharti had acquired 70 percent stake of the Bangladesh-based company.
Bharti said in a news release Thursday that its Singapore-based concern Bharti Airtel Holdings Pte Limited and Warid Group (Warid) have reached an agreement wherein Bharti will acquire 30 percent equity stake of Warid in Airtel Bangladesh Limited.
The India-based Bharti Airtel Limited is a global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
In terms of subscribers, the company ranks amongst the top four mobile service providers globally, according to the statement.
In India, the company's product offerings include 2G, 3G and 4G wireless services, mobile commerce, fixed line services, high speed DSL broadband, IPTV, DTH, enterprise services including national and international long distance services to carriers.
Bharti Airtel had over 271 million customers across its operations at the end of March 2013.
