Bangladeshis form world's largest human flag
Bangladeshis today formed the world’s largest human national flag, breaking the record set up by Pakistanis last year.
Total 27,117 volunteers, mostly students, stood up with red and green blocks to form the flag at the National Parade Ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on the occasion of 43rd Victory Day today on 16 December, paying tributes to the three million martyrs for their supreme sacrifice for the country and with a renewed call for executing all the verdicts against war criminals.
On October 21 last year, 24,200 students set the record for Pakistan during the Punjab Youth Festival.
The programme began around 9:00am and continued till 1:40pm.
The main attraction, completion of the flag, came at 1:30pm.
After two trials for 30 seconds, the participants went to complete the flag around 1:30pm.
The participants stood there for 6 minutes 16 seconds, though the requirement for setting a new world record was 5 minutes, an officer of Guiness told the cheering crowd.
The organisers now wait for official acknowledgement by the Guiness Book of World Records for recognition.
