Bangladesh Railway (BR) yesterday introduced a pair of commuter trains on the Dhaka-Narsingdi-Bhairab Bazar route to improve connectivity between Dhaka and its neighbouring districts.

Additionally, the BR has replaced coaches of the commuter train running on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route. The train, with a capacity of over 1,000 passengers, will operate 16 times a day, both during the day and at night.

Railways Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan inaugurated the service at a programme at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka.

Speaking at the event, he said the interim government is prioritising the needs of people outside Dhaka, as Chief Adviser Prof Yunus has directed them to ensure that development reaches areas beyond the capital.
