Six resign from Nagorik committee

Muntasir Tasrip, chief organiser of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Patuakhali's Bauphal, and five other student representatives, have resigned from the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, alleging a lack of transparency in its formation.
The five other representatives are: Fatima Zaman Samiya, Ayeshatunnesa Barsha, Ruhul Amin, Farhan Rupai, and Shubho Chandra Shil.
They announced their resignations through Facebook posts on Friday, February 28.
Muntasir later confirmed the matter over the phone.
According to them, the committee was formed without any discussion with the students. Although students had demanded discussions regarding the committee, their calls were ignored.
They also claimed that many individuals included in the committee had never been part of the movement.
"History teaches us that movements fail not only due to repression but also because of misguided leadership and opportunists. Unfortunately, our struggle is heading in that direction," Muntasir said.
