"Sheikh Hasina has to be put back in power to save Bangladesh”
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today (October 31, 2022) said Sheikh Hasina needs to be voted to power again in order to save the country and the spirit of Liberation War.
"I am urging everyone from this stage that we have to get Sheikh Hasina elected once again if we want to save Bangladesh. The pro-liberation forces need to form greater alliance under her leadership," he said addressing a rally organised to mark the golden jubilee founding anniversary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) held at the Central Shaheed Minar premises.
"No one can defeat us if we remain united," said the AL general secretary.
"Sheikh Hasina is the embodiment of non-communal Bangladesh. It will be a defeat for Bangladesh if she loses. Why would we receive defeat at the hands of anti-liberation forces? So, the 14-party alliance needs to be strengthened," he added.
"In the last 13 years, the BNP could not even protest for 13 minutes. Mirza Fakhrul has decided to protest. The illusion that you will assume power by ousting the current government on December 10, will evaporate like camphor.," he also said at the programme.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, claimed that he did not personally attack BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, he said, "Mirza Fakhrul claimed that I behaved indecently .We have learnt that funds are coming from Dubai, he is sitting on the stash of money. Why is this [remark] personal? He is a representative of a political party. I gave a political speech."
JSD President Hasanul Haq Inu presided over the programme.
JSD General Secretary Shirin Akhter and lawmaker Fazle Hossain Badsha from Rajshahi-2 spoke at the programme, among others.
