Joy spent $9 lakh, not $9m on lobbyist: BNP corrects Fakhrul’s remarks
BNP today corrected its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's remarks on Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, made at a press conference yesterday.
"A piece of information was misrepresented in yesterday's press conference held by the party secretary general. PM's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy spent US$ 9 lakh (900,000), and not $9 million, on lobbyist for 3 years between 2005-07 against the then BNP government," said a BNP press release today
"It was unintentional and we regret it," said the release.
Fakhrul yesterday at a press conference at the party chairperson's Gulshan office alleged that between 2005 and 2007, Sajeeb Wazed Joy had spent US$ 9 million against the then BNP government.
