If not voting for boat, they can’t go to polling centre: Natore AL leader
A leader of Natore district unit of Awami League has threatened voters not to go to the polling centres on November 11 if they will not vote for the AL candidate.
"The anti-boat voters will tarnish the image of the government at the polling centres on November 11. They will try to tarnish the image of (Prime Minister) Sheikh Hasina and Natore MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul. So, they can't be allowed to go to the centres," said Masudur Rahman, youth and sports affairs secretary of the district unit of AL.
Masud said this while addressing an election campaign as chief guest on Bangabaria Government Primary School premises in Tebaria union parishad under Natore Sadar upazila yesterday evening, reports our district correspondent.
"Our leader Shafiqul Islam sent a message, saying that voters opposing the AL-backed candidate (Omor Ali Prodhan) will not be allowed to go to the polling centres, not even near the centres," Masud said.
Echoing Masud, President of district unit of Tanti League Moshiur Rahman and Vice-president of Tebaria union unit of AL Bokul Hossain also asked the supporters of the rebel candidates and BNP leaders who are contesting the polls independently not to go to the polling centres.
Contacted, Natore Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed said he did not receive any complaint in this regard. If they receive any complaint, the administration along with the superintendent of police will take action against it, he said.
"Stern action will be taken if any proof of threatening voters is found," the DC said.
SP Liton Kumar Shaha said those violating the electoral code of conduct have been warned. No one will be allowed to obstruct voters from going to the polling centres, he said.
AL rebel candidate and Tebaria union's Jubo League President Saiful claimed that supporters of the AL candidate are tearing up posters and obstructing his supporters during campaigns.
