AL’s Shahdab wins Faridpur-2 by-polls
Ruling Awami League candidate Shahdab Akbar Chowdhury won the Faridpur-2 by-polls yesterday amid a low turnout.
Shahdab secured 68,812 votes against Zainul Abedin alias Bakul Miah, the Bangladesh Khelafot Andolan candidate, who got 14,878 votes, said Humayun Kabir, the returning officer of this election.
Shahdab decided to contest in this election after his mother Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, deputy leader of the parliament and AL's candidate from this constituency, died on September 11.
The voter turnout for this election was 26.27 percent.
