12 injured in BNP-police clash in Natore

At least 12 activists of BNP were injured in clash between BNP men and police at Palidaha area of Lalpur upazila in Natore this afternoon (September 6, 2022).
The injured are Abdul Majeed, Amir Hossain, Ali Ahmed, Anwar Hossain, Zillur Rahman, Astab Ali, Afsar Ali, Zillur Rahman, Jahangir Hossain, Jamirul Islam, Abdur Rahim, and Khalil Uddin, reports our Natore correspondent quoting Farzana Sarmin Putul, human rights affairs member of BNP central committee.
Md Saifur Rahman, superintendent of police in Natore, said BNP leaders and activists brought out procession this afternoon.
"When the procession reached at Palidah area, BNP men pelted bricks and stones targeting police. To bring the situation under control, police fired two rounds of tear shells and three rounds of rubber bullets," the police officer said.
He claimed that BNP leaders and activists had planned to create anarchy to get headlines.
As part of central programme, Lalpur upazila unit BNP organised a protest rally at Gouripur area, BNP leader Farzana said, adding that on their way to the programme, police barred them at Palidaha area.
"As our leaders and activists were barred, some leaders and activists from Gouripur rushed to the spot to rescue their fellow men," she said.
There, police along with Awami League leaders and activists swooped on them, where 12 of their men were injured, Farzana claimed.
