Woman, daughter hacked to death

A woman and her daughter were hacked to death allegedly by her son-in-law in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Farida Begum, 65, and her daughter Champa Begum, 32, of Dhawa village in the upazila.
Champa was the fourth wife of one Obaedul Haque Khan alias Badal, 45, of the same village. She and her mother began living in his house along with his son Yasin, 10, from a previous marriage.
"Around 11:00pm on Monday night, Yasin came to our house... and informed us his father had killed Champa and Farida," said Nasima, a neighbour.
Sumon Talukder, a cousin of Champa, said he was unaware of any conflict between Champa and her husband that could lead to the murder incident.
Police sent the bodies to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy yesterday.
A case was filed in connection with the murder, said OC Ahmed Anwar.
"We are trying to arrest the accused," said Khan Mohammad Abu Naser, superintendent of police in Pirojpur.
