Two associates of Piyasha arrested

In the name of arranging parties, an organised group used to organise events for narcotics consumption at flats in different posh areas including Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara, Rapid Action Battalion said yesterday.

Participated by different models at these parties, they used to take "compromised" photos of their clients, mostly from rich families. They later extorted money from them by blackmailing.

The arrestees are Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan and Masudul Hasan alias Jisan, associates of previously-arrested model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha during a drive at Bashundhara Residential Area on Tuesday night.

Earlier on August 1, detectives arrested Piyasha from her Baridhara residence.

"Fifteen to twenty persons used to take part in each party. In primary investigation, we found that the gang has at least 50 clients including some so-called models," Khandaker Al Moin, Rab's Legal and Media wing director told a press briefing yesterday.

They have clients abroad and used to send their associates there as per their demands, he said.

The money the arrestees extorted from the clients were invested in car import business and cattle farming. Mishu used to dodge tax while importing luxury cars and sell those to different businesspersons, he added.

Rab claimed to have recovered a firearm, yaba, a luxury Ferrari car, and fake Indian currency from the possession of the arrestees.
