Tanti Dal leader Azad arrested; BNP claims Dulu also picked up
Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal Convener Abul Kalam Azad was among two people arrested last night, while BNP alleged that its Organising Secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu was picked up from his residence by plainclothesmen.
Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farukul Alam told The Daily Star that they arrested Azad and Anisul Haque Lulu, whose party affiliation was not known, from the capital's Shewrapara around 10:30pm yesterday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP's senior joint secretary general, meanwhile alleged that men in plain clothes picked up Dulu from his Gulshan residence last night.
"Family members of Dulu told me that he was on bail in all the cases but even after that he was picked up," Rizvi said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Spokesperson Faruk Hossain did not respond to calls or text messages about Dulu's arrest.
