Tangail’s ‘Sandesh’, Munshiganj’s ‘Patkheer’, Narsingdi’s ‘Lotkon’ get GI recognition

"Jamurki's Kalidas Sandesh" from Tangail, the traditional sweet "Patkheer" from Munshiganj, and the fruit "Lotkon" from Narsingdi have been recognised as Geographical Indication (GI) products of Bangladesh.

The announcement was made today at a GI certificate distribution ceremony organised by the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) under the Ministry of Industries at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque received the GI registration certificate for sandesh. Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tul Jannat received the certificate for patkheer, while Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rashed Hossain Chowdhury received the GI certificate for lotkon.
