Star photo-journalist wins ‘Press Photo Award’

Amran Hossain, The Daily Star's senior staff photographer, won Bangladesh Press Photo Award 2022, in the Picture of the Year 2021 category.

Sourav Lasker of New Age won the award in arts, culture and sports category, Jibon Ahmed of Daily Manabzamin won in the public interest journalism category while Md Zakirul Mazed of Weekly Citizen won in the politics category.

Amran, who won the grand prize, will receive prize money of Tk 1 lakh, a crest, a certificate and a copy of the yearbook, while the other winners will receive prize money of Tk 50,000 each, with crests, certificates and copies of the yearbook.

The winners will be awarded in a ceremony during a photo exhibition showcasing the selected images, which will be held from February 18 to March 3.

Thirty selected photographs will be exhibited, including the winning entries.
