Rejoinder, our reply

The Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University authorities have sent a three-page-long rejoinder to our report -- Bhashani University: Four teachers appointed against two vacant posts -- published on May 6. As we cannot accommodate the 1,200-word rejoinder in the paper, we are publishing a concise version of it, followed by our reply.

The university claimed that the reporter did not contact them before publishing the report. It also claimed the newspaper quoted Vice Chancellor Prof Forhad Hossain without contacting him.

"No one can publish such quotes without contacting and talking to the concerned person. Such an act is not legal. We strongly protest and condemn such activities," reads the rejoinder.

Our Reply

The rejoinder did not contradict or contest any of the facts that we wrote in our report, rather than explaining their versions regarding the recruitment. Besides, the claim made in the rejoinder is not true. Our correspondent talked to VC Prof Forhad Hossain on February 20. We have proof of the telephone conversations with the VC.
