Prof Saiful Islam new VC of AIUB

Prof Dr Saiful Islam has joined as the vice-chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) on May 23 after being appointed by the president.

Islam was the VC of Dhaka International University (DIU) from February 2022 to May 2024.

From June 2016 to June 2020, he was the VC of BUET. Islam obtained his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering degree from BUET in 1975 and 1977.

He obtained his PhD in EE from Cambridge University, UK in 1986.

Prof Islam started his career as a lecturer of EE in BUET in 1975 and became professor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering department in 1988. He is a life fellow of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, a life fellow of Bangladesh Computer Society and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, UK, among many other reputed institutions.
