Missing freedom fighter found dead in Gazipur

Police recovered the body of freedom fighter Gani Sheikh today, two days after he went missing in Kapasia of Gazipur.

According to Ratan Sheikh, the deceased's nephew, Gani's wife, son, and daughter live in the Mirzapur area of Gazipur, while he lived alone in his village home. He had been missing since yesterday morning.

Police and witnesses said a neighbour discovered the 70-yesr-old's body on his land this morning and informed the authorities.

Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station, quoted a local Union Parishad member saying that Gani had been suffering from heart problems.

"Yesterday, despite his illness, he went to inspect his cropland and vegetable garden," the police official said.

An investigation is underway, and police are working at the scene to determine the exact cause of death.
