Khaleda Zia shifted to cabin from CCU at Evercare Hospital

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka was transferred to a cabin from the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) last night.
She was transferred to the cabin at 8:30 pm as per the recommendation of her medical board, her physician AZM Zahid Hossain, told The Daily Star last night.
"Madam was taken to a cabin according to the recommendation of the medical board. The cabin has CCU-like facilities and nurses of the CCU would look after her," the physician said.
Prof Zahid, also a member of the medical board, said, the health condition of Khaleda has not been improved. "Her condition remained the same as earlier. All parameters are fluctuating as before," he added.
Khaleda Zia, who was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis on November 13, was taken to CCU of Evercare Hospital the day after she was admitted at the hospital. Around 57 days later, she has been taken to the cabin.
A 10-member medical board headed by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, a specialist doctor at the hospital, is engaged in the treatment of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
The board recommended taking her abroad for treatment.
On behalf of the family, Khaleda Zia's younger brother Shamim Eskander sent a letter to the home ministry requesting them to allow taking Khaleda Zia aboard. But the government has rejected the request.
