ICT investigation officers can now arrest accused and suspects

The International Crimes Tribunal has amended some rules of procedures the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act 1973, empowering investigation officers of the ICT to arrest any accused or suspects and make necessary discovery.

Earlier, the investigation officers had no power to arrest any accused or suspects and to undertake search and seizure, said a prosecutor of the ICT.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 today published a gazette in this regard, making several amendments to the rules of procedures under the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973.
