Farida elected Jatiya Press Club president, Shyamal gen secy

Farida Yasmin of the Daily Ittefaq and Shyamal Dutta of Daily Bhorer Kagoj have been elected as president and general secretary respectively of the Jatiya Press Club for the 2022-23 tenure.

Farida bagged 567 votes while her rival candidate Kamal Uddin Sabuj got 401 votes.

The voting of JPC was held from 9am to 5pm today without any break.

Farida was elected first ever female president of JPC in the last election held in December 2020.

Meanwhile, Shyamal got 496 votes while Ilias Khan secured 474 votes for the general secretary post.

Hasan Hafiz was elected senior vice president (559) and Rezwanul Haque Raza (583) vice president.

The other office bearers of the 17-member JPC executive committee are -- joint secretaries Ayub Bhuiyan and Ashraf Ali, Treasurer Shahed Chowdhury.

The 10 members are Farid Hossain, Quazi Rownaq Hossain, Shahnaj Siddiqui Shoma, Kalyan Shaha, Shahnaz Begum Poly, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Julhas Alam, Bakhtiar Rana, Momin Hossain and Shimanto Khokon.
