Editors’ Council rejects Naem Nizam’s allegations against Mahfuz Anam; appoints Dewan Hanif Mahmud acting secretary general

The Editors' Council (Sampadak Parishad) today accepted the resignation of Naem Nizam from the position of secretary general and appointed assistant secretary general Dewan Hanif Mahmud as its acting secretary general as per the council's constitution.

Dewan Hanif Mahmud is the editor of Bonik Barta.

The Editors' Council took the decision at a meeting held at The Daily Star Centre.

The meeting also rejected the various allegations made by Naem Nizam against the Council and its President Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, and reiterated that every resolution and activity of the organisation was always done on the basis of consensus, said a statement of the council.

Earlier, Mr Reazuddin Ahmad, rditor, The Financial Herald, reported that following the council's last resolution, his attempts to bring Naem Nizam to the meeting did not materialise.
