All trains on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route are running at reduced speed since this morning following the detection of a crack on the railway track between Kawraid and Satkamaire.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Sripur Railway Junction Station Master Mst Shamima confirmed that since 6:00am, the speed limit of all trains that operate Sripur-Kawraid section of the Dhaka-Mymensingh rail route has been reduced to 10 kilometres per hour.

The station master confirmed that the rail traffic on the route is normal.

Asked if any train was halted at Sripur or Kawraid stations, the station master replied in negative.

"Expert technicians and staff from the railway authorities are conducting repair work on the track," she said, adding that these repairs do not necessitate the stoppage of trains.

It is still unclear how long the repairs will take, the station master said.
