CIU’s convocation to be held on January 18

The convocation of Chittagong Independent University is set to take place on January 18 at the Chattogram Boat Club, the university authorities announced yesterday.

CIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammed Nurul Absar said that all preparations for the much-anticipated event have been finalised. The convocation will celebrate the achievements of graduates and mark a significant milestone in their academic journeys.

On behalf of the president of Bangladesh, who also serves as the chancellor of the university, Dr Fouzul Kabir Khan -- adviser for the ministries of power, energy, mineral resources, road transport, and railways -- will confer degrees upon the graduates.

This year, 2,189 students will receive degrees, including 1,452 graduates from disciplines such as business, law, engineering, and liberal arts.

Industrial leader Kihak Sung, CEO of Youngone Corporation, will attend the ceremony as the convocation speaker.
