Bangladesh hands over relief to Int'l Red Cross

Bangladesh has handed over the humanitarian assistance package to International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) for distribution among earthquake-affected people in Syria.
The package containing dry food, medicines, blankets, tents and winter clothes arrived at Damascus, Syria yesterday by a special flight of Bangladesh Air Force Aircraft C-130J.
Nahida Sobhan, Bangladesh ambassador to Syria, and Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment of Syria Moutaz Douaji, received the relief materials at the Damascus International Airport yesterday.
The humanitarian assistance package for Syria was provided under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier, President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen conveyed profound condolences to their Syrian counterparts on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh's foreign ministry coordinated the sending of humanitarian assistance package in collaboration with the Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Air Force, and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
