A legal notice has been served to the divisional passport and visa office at Agargaon in Dhaka today asking it to stop the alleged corruption and nepotism.

Advocate Md Abu Taleb sent the legal notice to the director of the divisional passport and visa office yesterday, asking him to take measures to stop long, exhausting queues and to arrange seating arrangements for people. He also asked the director to ensure drinking water.

The lawyer also asked the authorities concerned to introduce a digital token system to ensure transparency.

In the legal notice, he said the authorities must introduce such a system so that all the service seekers can equally get services in the passport and visa office and no particular person gets extra illegal facilities.

Narrating the suffering of himself and his four family members at the office on March 21, lawyer Abu Taleb said in the legal notice that they got the serial for giving fingerprints and snapping photos after standing for two hours from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on that day in the office and then they completed other relevant functions till 6:00 pm.

All the mismanagements in the office have caused immense suffering for Abu Taleb and his family members, he said in the legal notice.

Abu Takeb told The Daily Star today that he will take appropriate legal notice if the director of the passport and visa office at Agargaon does not take steps in line with the requirements within 15 days.
