'Strict lockdown': Army to ‘aid civil power’ in ensuring field-level effective patrolling

Bangladesh Armed Force will deploy necessary number of army personnel under "Aid to the Civil Power" to ensure field-level effective patrolling during the countrywide seven-day "strict lockdown", starting tomorrow.

District Magistrate will finalise the matter after discussing with local army commander, according to a government circular issued today.

The district magistrate will meet with the local officials concerned and decide about the deployment of army, Border Guard Bangladesh, police, Rapid Action Battalion, their patrolling areas and schedule. The magistrate will also take initiatives if any special programme is needed in the area. The respective ministries and divisions will give necessary instructions at field level in this regard.

Public administration ministry will ensure the deployment of necessary number of executive magistrates.

The director general of the health directorate will give authority to the district administrations and police force for taking legal action of his behalf.
