Govt to announce dearness allowance by June 30

Dearness allowance for government employees will be announced before June 30, said Md Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, today.

The secretary made the statement while speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat today. However, he did not disclose the percentage of the dearness allowance to be announced.

Rahman, who is also a member of the Dearness Allowance Review Committee, said two meetings have been held regarding the matter.

Pensioners will also receive the dearness allowance, he added.

Besides, the secretary clarified that the dearness allowance, once announced, will be added to the basic salary during the upcoming increment.

Asked about the specific percentage of the allowance, he advised reporters to talks to the finance adviser and the finance secretary for more details.

"It is not right to speculate on this matter," he added.

He also did not provide any information on whether the current five percent incentive for government employees would continue after the dearness allowance is announced.
