Two sent to jail over rape attempt on madrasa girl in Panchagarh
A Panchagarh court sent two people to jail this afternoon (October 28, 2022) on charges of attempting to rape a madrasa girl in a tea garden at Sakatipara village in Boda upazila of the district while she was returning home on Thursday evening.
Judicial Magistrate Md Asrafuzzaman passed the order while they were produced before the court, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
The arrestees are Firoj Ali (27), and Maruf Hossain (21), of Ghoramara Colonypara in Panchagarh's Boda upazila.
Earlier on Friday morning police arrested the duo following a case filed by the victim's father in the early hours of Friday.
Citing the case statement, officer-in-charge of Boda Police Station Sujeyo Kumar Roy told the Daily Star that a female student of Class IX aged about 15 used to study in a local madrasa in the same upazila.
She had been going for private tuitions at the madrasa after classes and usually returning home in the evening.
As usual when she was returning home on Thursday from the madrasa, the two accused brought her to a tea garden alongside the road and tried to forcibly rape her.
As the victim screamed for help, they fled the scene.
After reaching home she narrated the incident to her parents and later at night her father filed a case with the police station accusing the duo.
