Robbery on bus in Patuakhali

A suspected gang of armed robbers blocked the Bakerganj-Barguna highway with a log and looted cash and phones from passengers of a bus in Patuakhali's Galachipa early yesterday.

The incident took place around 3:00am in Galachipa on the regional highway. The Imran Paribahan bus was travelling from Dhaka's Abdullahpur to Barguna.

Receiving the news, Barguna police went to the spot, but the robbers had fled by then.

Barguna Sadar Police Station OC Dewan Jaglul Hasan said, "The bus and its passengers were safely escorted to Barguna Police Station." Legal action will be taken following investigation, he said.
