Police recover woman's body from beneath stairs of Savar building
Police recovered the body of a woman from a residential building in Savar early today.
The body was found inside a sack placed beneath the staircase of the building.
The identity of the deceased, aged around 35, could not be known immediately.
Locals found the body wrapped in a plastic sack on the ground floor of Rita Villa at the Bank Colony area and informed police around 9:00am, said Zahirul Islam, a sub-inspector of Savar Police Station.
The SI suspected she was strangulated. Police detained a man for questioning.
Dipok Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of the police station, said none could identify the woman as she was not a tenant of the building.
Police are investigating the matter, he said.
