Man tells name of killer on Facebook live before dying in Moulvibazar
A fruit trader was hacked to death over a business transaction in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar today (November 7, 2022).
The deceased Joynal Mia (55) was a resident of Dattagram village of the district's Rajnagar upazila, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting police
The victim Joynal, however, mentioned the name of the alleged killer on Facebook live before his death, which went viral on social media.
The incident happened near the Noabagicha Rubber Garden in East Rangirkul area under Joychandi union of Kulaura upazila around 6:30 pm, said Abdus Salek, officer-in-charge of Kulaura Police Station.
While talking to reporters, Hamidul Hasan, an official of Noabagicha Rubber Garden, said, "In the evening, some of us were in the bungalow of the garden. Suddenly, hearing the screams of a man, I opened the door and saw Joynal covered in blood. Baul Sarwar, who was with us then, shared a live video on his Facebook ID where Joynal mentioned a man named Musa for attacking him. Joynal later died on the way to the hospital."
Masum Mia, son of the deceased, said "My father kept me in his shop at Tengra Bazar in the afternoon and went to Kulaura. He was supposed to get back at 8pm."
OC Abdus Salek said police rushed to the spot after receiving the information. A drive is underway to nab those involved.
Initially, it is believed that Joynal may have been killed due to a financial transaction. The process to file a case in this regard is underway, he added.
